Rovaniemi is the capital of Lapland, Finland. It's a city rebuild after almost being completely destroyed during World War II, and today it's known for being the "official" home town of Santa Claus, and for viewing the Northern Lights . It's also home to Arktikum, a museum and science center that explores the Arctic region and the history of Finnish Lapland. The Science Centre Pilke features interactive exhibits on northern forests.
The best time to go to Rovaniemi is between November to March. It is a bit crowded due to the popularity during December because of the northern lights and snow.
Meet Santa at Santa Clause Village or learn about Arctic culture, history and science at the Arktikum Science and Museum. You could also go husky sledding at the Husky Safari.
